Deborah Caperton ~ Artist Statement

I truly enjoy the process of creating metaphors and sharing ideas with a vocabulary of objects. My assemblages combine original elements that I create along with objects from my collection. I have accumulated a diverse assortment resulting from many decades spent trolling flea markets, yard sales, discovering flora as well as receiving nature’s oddities from family and friends. These treasures had past lives and history. I like to imagine I am collaborating while repurposing- giving new life to something overlooked and forgotten. The components I make are fabricated by hand, mostly in metal and are designed to fill in the blanks where needed to drive a concept. These narratives are loosely woven to leave space for the observer to make personal connections and reflections. My hope is that this active participation beckons the viewer to be affected by what they see and feel, thus making these stories their own. deborahcapertonjewelry.com

Deborah Gutof ~ Artist & Educator

Most of my art is created using wheel-made forms, slab fabrication and sculptural techniques, with an emphasis on rhythm, form, and color. The “O” is a shape that consistently appears in my work. I’m drawn to its’ symbolic quality and simple contour.

As an artist, parent, educator, and businesswoman, it’s my goal to use all my knowledge and skill to have a lasting and positive effect on those around me. Naturally I do this through the creative process and as much charm as it takes.

Robert Schwarzenbach studied at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, Pratt Institute and Columbia University and lives in San Francisco. His studio is in Hunter’s Point where he is a member of Hunters Point Shipyard Artists.

Artist Statement:

I am a San Francisco based painter working in the genre of geometric abstraction. My interest is to contextualize a background in architecture and construction with a curiosity of color and its relationship to culture. Using my visual tools, I endeavor to further my knowledge and understanding of this historically challenging aesthetic.”
